The Karachi Port handled 180,818 tonnes of cargo comprising 109,762 tonnes of import cargo and 71,056 tonnes of export cargo including 8,688 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 109,762 tonnes comprised of 71,055 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,699 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,410 tonnes of canola; 3,198 tonnes of DAP; 2,400 tonnes of palm kernel and 30,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 71,056 tonnes comprised of 16,809 tonnes of containerised cargo; 36,065 tonnes of clinkers; 1,382 tonnes of rice and 16,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,688 containers comprising of 4,841 containers import and 3,847 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,629 of 20's and 1,553 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 53 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 469 of 20's and 218 of 40's loaded containers while 606 of 20's and 1,168 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Botany Bay Sun, Wieland and Ardmore Seavantage carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Greenwich Bridge, AS Paola, Xin Hong Kong, CMA CGM Butterfly, MT Quetta, Stolt Sea and Isuzu carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 145,473 tonnes includes 47,500 tonnes of LNG; 825 tonnes of palm kernel; 9,500 tonnes of palm oil; 50,633 tonnes of coal; 14,500 tonnes of canola seeds and 22,515 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 54,894 tonnes includes 9,484 tonnes of rice; 45,410 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,575 containers comprising of 1,185 containers import and 2,390 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were three ships namely MOL Globe, Stena Important and Ummbab carrying containers, soyabean and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely MSC Pina and SBI Tethys carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, canola seeds, LNG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as six vessels viz. Maersk Jalan, Yasa Aysen, Asia Rubi, SBI Ursa, King Craft and NCC Qassim carrying containers, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six ships viz. Tucapel, As Paola, Asia Rubi, SBI Ursa, King Craft and NCC Qassim carrying containers, coal, LPG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were two ships namely Tucapel and Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely CMA CGM Butterfly carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
