A policeman was killed and two others were injured in firing during a raid by police on a house in Bannu Township on Friday. Addressing a press conference, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu Abdullah Khan said that police received information about three accused Hanif Pashtoon, Fahimullah and Shaheenullah that they were present in a house in Bannu Township. He said the accused are affiliated with Pakhtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) and they are wanted to Bannu and Lakki Marwat Police in different cases.
The RPO said that a police team raided the house and as soon as they entered the house, the accused opened fire. He said Inspector of a sensitive agency, Shakir Azam alias Zaheer Khan lost his life in the firing and two policemen, including an additional station house officer, were injured. Abdullah Khan said the three suspects were arrested and two pistols were recovered from them. He claimed that the accused were wanted in terrorism cases and they were affiliated with the PTM.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), a team of Lakki Marwat Police and sensitive agency deployed personnel near the house of Hanifullah for his arrest. The police team knocked at the door of Hanifullah. The FIR said Hanifullah opened the door and ran back when he saw the police team. It said the police team was trying to nab the accused when Hanifullah and Fahimullah opened fire.
