Twenty tribal couples tied the knot in mass marriage ceremony held here in Khuga Khel, Landi Kotal on Sunday. The welfare activity was organized under the auspices of Non Government Organization (NGO). As that was first ever activity of its kind therefore people of different walk of life participated in it. Besides, gifts, the couple was given dowry comprising commodities of daily usage worth of Rs 75,000. This was first ever well-being activity conducted in the area.
Haji Aslam, Hamid Zafar and others office-bearers of the welfare organisation said that it was the first time mass marriage ceremony had been organised in the area, adding the 20 couples from the poor and deserving families of Landi Kotal got married in the ceremony. They vowed that the programme would be extended to other areas. Yaseen, one of bride grooms appreciated the noble act of the organization and said those youth who could not bear expenses of marriage would be certainly benefited of it. Local people lauded the efforts of the organisation and said such kind of activity motivate other philanthropists to work for the welfare of poor segment of the society. Food had been also arranged for the guests who attended the ceremony. At the end relatives of the bride grooms and tribal youth presented tradition dance, Attan to express their jubilation.
