Prices of essential kitchen items have witnessed a mixed trend during this week past as compared to previous week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. According to details, onion price remained stable at Rs 200 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 55-60 per kg in retail market; tomato price went down from Rs 150 to Rs 120 per 5kg which were being sold at Rs 35 against Rs 40 per kg and potato price remained stable at Rs 140 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 40 per kg.
Local garlic price went up from Rs 875 to Rs 900 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 290 per kg against Rs 280 per kg and ginger price remained stable at Rs 1,250 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 320 per kg.
Beans price went down from Rs 450 per 5 kg to Rs 325 per 5 kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, tinda price went down from Rs 350 per 5 kg to Rs 230 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 65-70 per kg against Rs 90 per kg, peas price went down from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 350 per 5kg which were being sold at Rs 80-90 per kg against Rs 110 per kg in the retail market; and brinjal price went up from Rs 150 to Rs 180 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 40 per kg in retail market. Turnip price went up from Rs 120 per 5 kg to Rs 175 per 5 kg which in per 5kg was being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 40 per kg, yam price also went up from Rs 200 per 5 kg to Rs 230 per 5 kg which in per 5kg was being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 55 per kg.
Capsicum price remained stable at Rs 200 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 65 per kg; cucumber price went down from Rs 175 to Rs 120 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 55; cauliflower price went up from Rs 150 to Rs 225 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 45 per kg; and cabbage price went down from Rs 230 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 65 per kg. Pumpkin price remained stable at Rs 150 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 40 per kg in the retail market; tinda price went down from Rs 350 to Rs 240 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 85 per kg in the retail market; okra price went down from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 120 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 40 per kg; and kareela price went down from Rs 175 to Rs 150 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 50 per kg in the retail market.
Fine quality white lentil (Maash) was available at Rs 200 per kg while its normal quality was being sold at Rs 160-170 per kg; good quality grams at Rs 200 per kg and normal quality grams at Rs 160 per kg; kidney bean (Lobia) was available in the range of Rs 130-170 per kg; green gram (Moong) at Rs 155 against Rs 140 per kg; and red lentil (Masoor) was available at Rs 160 per kg.
No changes were witnessed in the prices of non-perishable items this week, as good quality ghee/cooking oil was available at Rs 220 per kg, sugar at Rs 3,500 per 50 kg bag, powdered chillies at Rs 380-400 per kg, turmeric at Rs 270 per kg, good quality tea at Rs 900 per kg and best quality wheat flour at Rs 2,200 per 40 kg.
Everyday powder milk was available at Rs 790 per kg, formula milk Lactogen at Rs 500 small tin, non-branded tea at Rs 750 per kg, normal quality diapers (Rocket) at Rs 1,260 per pack, while good quality diapers (Pampers), per pack of 64-72 pieces, was available at Rs 2,120 per pack.
It has repeatedly been reported that no retailer is following the official rate list issued by the District Price Committee Islamabad/Rawalpindi headed by Deputy Commissioner concerned.
Fruit prices also witnessed an mixed trend as Turkish apple was available at Rs 300 per kg, Iranian Kala Kolo apple at Rs 225 per kg against Rs 200 per kg, and good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 90 per dozen against Rs 70 per dozen while its normal quality was being sold in the range of Rs 50-60 per dozen. Various brands of mangoes were being sold in the range of Rs 75 per kg to Rs 150 per kg and various qualities of peaches were available in the range of Rs 75-150 per kg.
