Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday asserted that the verdict against prime minister stands null and void. "PML-N had screened the judge's purported video after confirmation. The judge, in the video clip, had confessed that he had given the verdict against Nawaz Sharif under pressure. Therefore, under this scenario, verdict against the three-time prime minister stands null and void," he said.
Responding to a question regarding alleged pressure from PML-N, Shahid Khaqan asked why the judge had not informed the Supreme Court's monitoring judge if he had been pressurised. He further said that the removal of Arshad Malik, judge of Accountability Court, created serious doubts on whole justice system. All spokespersons of the government are defending the removal of Arshad Malik rather than concentrating upon the economic challenges being faced by the country, he said.
Former prime minister asserted that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) respects judiciary and it has not attempted to degrade any judge. As the matter is now in the Supreme Court, he said, the apex court will have to decide the case. Answering a question regarding his alleged meeting with Nasir Janjua, he said that he is ready to face any court case as he had never been involved in any wrongdoing.
