The meeting of a subcommittee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was adjourned after just half-an-hour on Tuesday due to load-shedding in the Parliament House. The PAC session was being presided over by Noor Alam Khan when the committee room went dark due to load-shedding. The House used a few lights which were apparently not enough to continue the session and even the meeting could not be recorded due to inconvenience.
Committee convener Noor Alam expressed concern over load-shedding and directed the relevant officials to call the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) chief in the House, stating he should be called here if he has turned electricity off. Noor Alam ordered the government officials, who attended the meeting, to receive their travelling allowance (TA) and dearness allowance (DA) from the Power Division on which the audit authorities should make a proper report.
The auditor general expressed that it is the responsibility of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to provide power supply to the Parliament. The committee convener asserted to inquire the matter. He said now he has the idea that the country is in grave crisis due to power shortage. The PAC's subcommittee meeting was adjourned later on.
