FPCCI believes in dialogue for resolving issues: VP

17 Jul, 2019

Vice president FPCCI Muhammad Arshad Jamal said that instead of agitation, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry believes in dialogue to resolve issues. "FPCCI is a responsible organisation. Its positive policies are being criticised by some persons because FPCCI is not serving their purpose," he said, speaking at a meeting with importers and traders, other day.
He noted that in the federal budget 2019-20, government had taken several positive measures for broadening of tax base and for documented economy. But, he said, those measures were considered harsh as potential taxpayers were reluctant to get enrolled in taxation system. He said that they had issues with procedures and seeking suitable amendments in it but the measures taken in this budget were positive and should be implemented in true spirit for prosper Pakistan.
Furthermore, Arshad said that government was poised to address procedural issues being faced by the trade after budget announcement. He said that issues highlighted by the business community were being resolved by the government on day-to-day basis. "In coordination with senior vice president and vice presidents, FPCCI president has conducted a meeting with different trade bodies and importers to get their feedback and draft a presentation on the issues," he referred.
He urged that instead of initiating agitation to pressurise the government, all stakeholders should sit together and evolve workable proposals for the government to revive country's depressed economic condition. FPCCI VP further suggested that all business sectors, which were affected by the government's budgetary measures, should come to the platform of chambers' federation to resolve their issues amicably.
