Joint ventures to boost Pak, Greece trade ties urged

Founder, President Greek-Pakistani Chamber of Commerce Ms Rubina Markopoulou has urged the business community of Pakistan and Greece to boost mutual trade ties through joint ventures. Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry here on Saturday she said that trade delegations from Greece and Pakistan should visit each other.
Highlighting the significance of privatization, she said that equally important is the acceleration of the privatization programme which creates opportunities in important markets such as energy, transport, tourism, construction and infrastructure. LCCI Senior Vice President Khawaja Shahzad Nasir said the level of trade and economic cooperation is far below the expectation in view of the potentials of the two economies.
Pakistan has favourable balance of trade with Greece and we need to maintain it, he said adding that increase in the Pakistani exports for Greece is showing encouraging results. With a view to create conducive atmosphere, which can set the ball rolling towards greater economic cooperation, both countries must identify the areas that may create opportunities for greater trade.
