Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 108,038 tonnes of cargo comprising 71,524 tonnes of import cargo and 36,514 tonnes of export cargo including 5,093 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 71,524 tonnes comprised of 35,865 tonnes of containerised cargo; 26,323 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,886 tonnes of fertilizer and 1,450 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 36,514 tonnes comprised of 19,379 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,635 tonnes of clinkers and 7,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,093 containers comprising of 2,790 containers import and 2,303 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 808 of 20's and 840 of 40's loaded while 102 of 20's and 100 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 416 of 20's and 462 of 40's loaded containers while 387 of 20's and 288 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ship carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels carrying containers, oil tanker, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 114,788 tonnes includes 5,995 tonnes of LNG; 35,774 tonnes of coal; 12,200 tonnes of palm oil; 5,000 tonnes of soyabean; 3,325 tonnes of chemical; 2,106 tonnes of general cargo and 50,388 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 32,129 tonnes includes 32,129 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,343 containers comprising of 2,652 containers import and 1,691 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were four ships namely Emmanuel-C, Navig-8 Spica, Golar Ice and Theresa Success carrying coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely Maersk Hartford, Da Zhe and NCC Dammam carrying containers, general cargo and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as nine vessels viz. Nordic Harbin, IVS Wentworth, Bulk Costa Rica, CP Shen Zhen, Tiger Harmony, Epic Sicily, Al-Tessa, Chemroad Dita and Golden Brilliant carrying steel coil, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six ships viz. Los Angles Trader, Nordic Harbin, Bulk Costa Rica, Tiger Harmony, Al-Tessa and Golden Brilliant carrying containers, steel coil, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There was one ship namely Los Angles Trader carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
