President of North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry (NKATI), Syed Tariq Rashid has urged Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to review decision and issue directives to accept town association's recommendation letters and provide supplying at subsidized gas tariff to industries.
He expressed his anger over non-supply of gas at subsidized tariff to manufacturing and exporting units and rejection of NKATI recommendations by SSGC. He said that under the SRO (1) 2019, Ogra had fixed gas tariff for registered manufacturers and exporting units of textile, corporate, leather, sports and surgical equipment at 786 rupees per MMBTU gas tariff from July 2019.
In this regard, SSGC issued a letter, in which advised to submit recommendations from the associations for subsided gas rate. When the members visited SSGC office along with NKATI recommendation letters for obtaining subsidized gas tariff, the SSGC officials rejected our recommendations and asked them to submit Trade Associations recommendation letter.
"We would like to raise this issue that all the manufacturing and exporting units fall in the jurisdiction of town associations, while trade associations do not have any specific jurisdiction and can not verify all of them. Very important issue that many units are not the members of trade associations, they only obtain town associations," Patron in Chief NKATI, Captain A Moez Khan.
