One person has died, 18 cattle were killed and three houses have been damaged in torrential-rain related incidents in districts Buner and Torghar, said a spokesman of the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday. The department has directed the district administration of Buner for provision of immediate relief and assistance to the affected families from torrential rains at Jabo (Gagra) while the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also dispatched additional relief goods to the affected areas of Buner.
According to initial reports, three houses were damaged and one person has died. Due to water Daggar-Pir Baba Road remained blocked for one hour for all kind of vehicular traffic that was reopened through using heavy machinery.
Meanwhile, 18 cattle were killed in a roof collapse incident due to heavy rain at Landai, Tehsil Hassan Zai, district Torghar.
The Met Office has forecasted heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Malakand Division from July 26 to July 27, 2019 while the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department had issued alert and in case of emergency situation initiating of immediate relief operations and rehabilitation of the affected areas.
The department has also urged the residents of the Glacier zone in Chitral for remaining in contact with government departments and taking of prior steps by the district administration.
