KP Minister for Local Governments and Rural Development (LG&RD), Shahram Khan Tarakai has directed Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) and Water Supply & Sanitation Programmes (WSSPs) of Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, DI Khan and Abbottabad for preparation of comprehensive cleanliness plan for Eidul Azha. These directives were issued during a meeting of the subservient bodies of the Department of Local Governments across the province. The meeting reviewed cleanliness situation, measures of Eidul Azha, punishment and penalty on spreading of dirt and performance of the bodies' during the current season.
Those who attended were included Director General (DG) PDA, Uzair Khan, Secretary Local Council Board (LCB), Khizer Hayat Khan, Project Director (PD) KDA, Khawaja Fahim Sajjad, DG GDA, Raza Ali Habib and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of WSSPs.
Presiding over the meeting, the provincial minister directed the officers for preparation of a comprehensive cleanliness plan for their respective areas for upcoming Eidul Azha and fixation of points for the dumping of garbage. He directed for provision of facilities to shopkeepers and common citizens and installation of dustbins everywhere and then inform the people for putting their garbage and incase of violation impose penalties on them.
Appreciating the DG GDA for imposition of penalties on dirt spreading tourists, hotels and official residences, the provincial minister urged for showing no leniency with anyone in this regard and strict implementation of the agenda by each body. The meeting also decided the formulation of a digital mechanism for the monitoring and review of the performance of Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) and to keep people inform about the steps taken in the public interest by the government.
