Emir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Sirajul Haq has said that his party would stage an Awami March in Peshawar on August 25 and announce its future line of action. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Haq said that Awami March would be a referendum against the government. He said that had there been a world cup for telling a lie, Prime Minister Imran khan would have been the winner. He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) before coming into government and after formulating the government in centre kept on making false promises to the people every day. He said that neither before elections nor after coming into power Imran Khan fulfilled party manifesto and promises and as a result his government rapidly lost popularity.
He further said that the entire federal cabinet is incompetent and comprises people of the Musharraf and PPP governments. He said that the PTI has completed one year in government but no relief has been provided to the masses. All policies of the government have failed badly due to which the masses as well as PTI supporters in media are greatly upset. He said the government is of the view that the quality of a big leader is that he takes a U-turn again and again.
On the occasion, the JI chief prayed for the soldiers martyred in Balochistan, Waziristan and in the plane crash.
Sirajul Haq said that the JI would not join the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) but would launch a separate movement against the government.
Sirajul Haq said the nation has not benefited in any manner from the IMF loans. On the other hand, inflation has increased, dollar rate has reached a record high and growth rate has come down. He said the PTI economic wizard and former Finance Minister Asad Umar was saying that going to the IMF was a wrong decision. He said there is everything in the PTI government except "Insaaf". He said the Prime Minister himself had termed IMF loan as suicidal but the government has secured $6 billion loan from the same source. He said the value of the rupee has fallen by 37 per cent.
He said the public money was spent on the Parliament but there has been no legislation in the public interest during the past one year. Haq claimed that the foreign policy of the government is stated to be a big success but the fact is that the US has given $ 120 million to Pakistan for F-16 programme against $670 million to India. He said this was the money of the nation and had been given to the US as advance which the US had been keeping with it till now. Now when the US demands has been fulfilled, the US has given parts instead of the said planes.
He said the Prime Minister had made an announcement about the discovery of huge gas reserves but the next day it came to be known that Rs 14 billion of the nation had been wasted.
He said that the JI stands by the masses. He termed the two-party system as deadly for democracy and added that the JI would not become part of the system as this would help the mafia dominate the politics.
He said that for quite some time, the Ahmedis have been very active in the country and a lobby at international level wants to change the law concerning the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (Finality of the Prophethood). He said that the masses should rise for the protection of this law.
He termed the demand for new election as before time and said the PTI government should continue so that the masses could assess its performance.
