Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday sought the replies from Home Secretary Sindh, IGs of Police & Prison and others by August 15, 2019 about the alleged torture on Nisar Morai, former Chariman Fishermen Cooperative Society (FCS) in jail. A division bench of the SHC directed the authorities to submit their replies after wife of Morai moved the court that his husband was subjected to severe torture in jail. Nisar Morai is in jail after he was arrested in corruption in FCS and is being tried in an accountability court.
The counsel for Morai told the court more than twenty people tortured his client, who is a diabetic patient. Morai's wife pleaded the court to hold inquiry into this torture on his husband.
She said that his husband was put to torture after he complained about the corruption in jail and accused IG Prison Sindh for being involved in it. Meanwhile, the SHC division bench also issued notices to SSP District East Karachi, SHO PS, Jamshed Quarters and others in a contempt of court petition for violating the court orders regarding usage of premises of Islamia College, Karachi and attacking the trustee of Islamic Education Trust (IET).
Syed Murid Ali Shah, Trustee IET, pleaded the court to initiate appropriate proceedings against contemnors who knowingly violated the court orders that an inch of land not be given to any person for any purpose including burial of Muhammad Hussain in the premises of Islamia College, Karachi. It is submitted that despite clear and unambiguous order passed by this court, the contemnors showed sheer disobedience by break open the locks, digging ground for grave and then burying Muhammad Hussain by use of force and attacked the trustee. The petitioner pleaded the court to summon the contemnors and call explanation from them as to why they have violated court orders.
