The Sindh High Court (SHC) has suspended the recovery notice of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued to Pakistan Peoples Party leader (PPP) Faryal Talpur and Zardari Group on agriculture land's taxes. A division bench of the SHC headed by Justice Aqeel Abbasi also restrained FBR from collecting the taxes from Faryal Talpur and Zardari Group and sought the replies from the FBR and Inland Revenue Department in this regard.
Faryal Talpur and Zardari Group had moved SHC against the notices of Inland Revenue Department which stated that agriculture land owned by Faryal Talpur and Zardari Group didn't match the details in their tax returns, submitted with FBR. The FBR, Inland Revenue Department and other have been made respondents in the petition. Department had issued notices to Faryal Talpur and Zardari Group for recovery of tax after stating that Faryal Talpur and Zardari Group owned several acres of land in Shaheed Benazirabad.
The FBR had also sought the complete record of the land and the taxes. Barrister Khalid Javed Khan, counsel for Faryal Talpur and Zardari Group argued in the court that said piece of land is disputed and matter is being heard in SHC. He prayed the recovery notices should be suspended till the matter is decided in the court about ownership of this land.
