Amid escalating tension with India in the wake of August 5 illegal actions of Modi government, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor Saturday reiterated that Pakistan armed forces will fight 'to the last bullet and the last soldier' for Kashmir.
Talking informally to mediapersons here after attending the first meeting of the special committee on Kashmir, the spokesperson for Pakistan military said that the armed forces are fully prepared to confront every misadventure by India and that nation needs not to be worried about. He was responding to a question about any misadventure by India in Azad Jammu and Kashmir given the provocative statements coming from the across the border.
"The nation must remain calm. The armed forces are well prepared to respond to any situation. The time has now arrived to get back the previous occupation [of Jammu and Kashmir] by India," Major General Asif Ghafoor said, adding that they [Indian] should not think any advancement towards Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
"Pakistan's armed forces will not disappoint the nation in case of any misadventure from Indian side. Every inch of land of the Azad Kashmir is well protected," he asserted. Referring to the August 5 illegal steps taken by Indian government, he said that Modi government has internationalised the Kashmir issue through such steps, adding that Kashmir has now become a flashpoint for the entire world.
About the ceasefire violations on the Line of Control, the DG ISPR said that Pakistan Army is giving a befitting and careful response to the Indian unprovoked violations on the LoC, adding that five Indian soldiers have been killed in the last two days in retaliatory firing. He said that Indian forces are deliberately targeting the civilian population.
"The Army Chief has already warned that the armed forces of the country will go to any extent for protection of the motherland. They [Indians] will get an effective 'surprise' if they violated our territorial boundaries," the spokesperson of the armed forces further said, adding that the statements by the Prime Minister and Army Chief 'of going to every extent' in defence of the country is the narrative of Pakistan's Army.
