FPCCI polls: tough contest expected between BMP and UBG

19 Aug, 2019

Coming Elections of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) will be a tough competition between Businessmen Panel (BMP) and United Business Group (UBG). It was observed that the business community faces severe challenges in terms of cost of doing business and new doctrine of the FBR which is yet to be concluded and instability are on the glance among the traders and industrialists.
Chairman BMP, Mian Anjum Nisar said business community is faced with lack of trust from the government departments and it is imperative that lack of trust may be overcome between the stakeholders, it was seen in the last month when hard time came on the business community the sitting management of the FPCCI have played a role of silent spectator which is unjustified towards their members.
Business community believes that FPCCI is mother of the Pakistan Business Community and they should lead from the front but they didn't due to lack of vision and courage which is a dangerous indicator for the private sector of this country, he said.
Anjum Nisar said, "We believed that the incumbent government will overcome the mistrust between the stakeholders and we are continuously in-touch with the government officials for mediation as a responsible opposition group in the apex trade body of the country because we understand the business community cannot flourish in these difficult times without the support and guidance of the Prime Minister Imran Khan."
When questioned on the coming Federation elections, he said yes there is no doubt that tough contest will be anticipated in the month of December because now mostly chambers of commerce and trade associations have already come out from "Dhara Bazi" because they feel that they don't get due support and resolution of their problems from the United Business Group and FPCCI and this time they want to cast their vote independently. "The novel example in this regard is that when business community were on roads last month we didn't see even a single statement in favour of them from the Federation or UBG."
He further said Prime Minister Imran Khan wants to uplift the economy and tax base of the country and we appreciate his ideology in this regard and provide due support in the interest of the business community.
