MCC East witnesses 65 percent decline in revenue collection

Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Appraisement East has witnessed 65 percent decline in overall revenue collection made in Aug 2019 as compared to last corresponding month. The department has collected Rs 894 million on account of customs duty in Aug 2019 as compared to the collection of Rs 1.342 billion made during last corresponding month. Similarly, around Rs 1.097 billion was collected as sales tax during the said month, depicting 21 percent decline as against Rs 1.384 billion collected last preceding month. The department under the head of income tax collected Rs 286 million, which is Rs 471 million less than the collection of Rs 757 million made in August 2018.
Similarly, the department has faced a revenue shortfall of Rs 10.560 billion to meet the revenue target of Rs 85.964 billion fixed for July-August period. The department has witnessed 16 percent decline in custom duty collection made during July-August period as compared to Rs 30.454 billion collected during last corresponding period. Contrary to that, the department has witnessed 6 percent and 82 percent growth in revenue collection made on account of sales tax and federal excise duty, respectively during said period.
