The people from different walks of life staged a rally here on Friday to commemorate the Defense Day and to express solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir (IOK) against the Indian atrocities. A number of people gathered at D-Chowk holding Pakistani and Kashmir flags as well as placards and banners inscribed with slogans like "Stand with Kashmir," "Go India Go," "Where is Humanity?" and "Indian media is a liar."
They also chanted slogans in favour of freedom of Kashmir and against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Heavy contingents of police were deployed on the occasion in order to avert any unpleasant incident. The protesters said that revocation of special status of occupied Kashmir by India will not serve its purpose and will further strengthen the freedom movement.
While condemning the recent aggression of the Indian government in occupied Kashmir, the protestors urged the world community including the United Nations and human rights organisations to take notice of the grave situation against the defenseless innocent Kashmiris.
They rejected the suspension of the Articles 35-A and 370 of Indian constitution and declared it a conspiracy orchestrated for the geographical division of Kashmir. They said that the independence movement in Kashmir would gain further strength and India would face defeat.
