The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to introduce school leaders in the primary schools to work for bringing improvement in the performance and teaching process in class rooms. In this connection 3000 new school leaders will be recruited in the province from the upcoming academic year 2020.
This has been stated in the next four-year plan of the PTI-led provincial government. The plan further said that scripts for the teachers teaching English, Mathematics and Urdu are being prepared for Class-I to Class-III. The step is aimed to help improve the quality of education in the province.
The plan said that during last one year, the performance of students has been improved in general and in the subject of mathematics particularly. As compared to last year, the average score in the subjects of English, Mathematics and Science has been increased by 6%, 10% and 5% points respectively while the performance of primary school's teachers in subjects of English, Mathematics and Science has been improved with the average of 6%, 11% and 14% points respectively. As compared to 50% of last year, 59% teachers are fulfilling the standard of qualification.
During last year, the provincial government has recruited more than 17000 teachers including 9000 primary schools' teachers and has created 12000 vacancies of teachers to fill the deficiency of teachers in public sector primary schools. During the current financial year, a separate dispatch for the recruitment of 11,000 primary teachers will be sent to finance department and will recruit 65000 teachers during the five-year term of the government.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department has already launched the amended Continued Professional Development (CPD) programme in eight more districts successfully. So far 53715 teachers are being imparted training on monthly basis.
Under the programme, the teachers of Girls' Community Schools at Frontier Regions of Kohat and Peshawar are also given training and from April 2020, 90,000 teachers from 27 districts including Frontier Regions will get training on monthly basis.
The provincial government has already completed the first phase of training programme for the teacher of the KP districts. In first phase training has been imparted 12,384 teachers through tablet and video based programme during the period of last six months.
For the second phase, the programme has been redesigned on the basis of the experience of first phase. In second phase 17,000 new teachers will be given training. The confirmation of the services of new teachers has been linked with the successful completion of the programme.
