ANP demands impartial, transparent polls to strengthen democracy

ANP's president Asfandyar Wali Khan demanded impartial and transparent polls to handover the reign of power to elected and democratic forces and strengthen democracy in the country. In a message issued here on Sunday in connections with World Democracy Day, he said that ANP believes in the supremacy of democracy and the purpose of the day was meant to promote real democracy. He said that for the development of the nation and country, all political parties would have to establish democratic traditions.
The ANP said that threats to democracy in Pakistan are very old and added that for the resolution of problems and guaranteeing the supremacy of democracy, the representative political forces will have to sit together and framed a line of action and these democratic political parties will have to wage struggle for political stability in the country.
The veteran politician said that national economy and salvation are linked with political stability. He said that democracy is an international system for establishment of an independent opinion on the political, economic, social and cultural system that strengthen the state institutions to empower them to such extent to provide better service delivery to the people through an automated manner. He said that the resolution of the national problems is in the strengthening of democracy that is inevitable for peace, stability and development.
He said that democratic system has one thing common, on whose foundations, the people independently participating in the political, economic and cultural system. But, unfortunately, the policy of weakening democratic forces is continued sine long and the repeated sabotaging of the democratic system had rendered institutions weakened. He clarified that democracy is the only way-out and path for strengthening of the country and economic autarky. Democracy is a consecutive process in any society and only elected forces should enjoy central stage irrespective of the fact that the process of forcing imposition of unelected personalities is still continued.
