In his yesterday's op-ed for Business Recorder titled "The Constitution and its guardians," Shabir Ahmed has plausibly argued that "Despondency, the flip side of defeatism, has a hollowing out effect on the nation. Inherent in every dictate of the Constitution is the duty of all three organs of the state to check loss of trust. But none has a greater responsibility than the courts. Justice is the key, and that is why the exceptional empowerment of the judiciary."
Despondency means low spirits from loss of hope or courage; in other words, it's rejection. I would like to add that Supreme Court acts as both guardian and protector of constitution by exercising Writs Jurisdictions and other powers.
