Asad Shafiq, captain of Sindh cricket team said that appointment of Misbah-ul-Haq as head coach/chief selector is a positive sign for Pakistan cricket.
Speaking at pre-match press conference of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at National Cricket Stadium, Karachi, he said that appointment of Misbah as head coach/chief selector was a positive sign for Pakistan cricket as former captain played immense number of matches and his vast experience would help Pakistan cricket to elevate its ranking at international level.
"Fitness is now on prime focus and lot of work is being done on it as fitness can help players to improve their skills and meet the level of other teams in competitive cricket," he said.
The match between Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be kicked off on September 21, 2019 at UBL Sports Complex, Karachi.
The first four-day match between Sindh and Balochistan played at same venue in Karachi ended with draw and during post-match conference, coaches of both teams held pitch condition responsible for slow run rate that led the match indecisive.
Commenting on it, Asad said that during Sindh and Balochistan match, the strike rates of both teams remained slow throughout the match, due to pitch condition and hoped that pitch will be favoring both batsmen and bowlers in Sindh's second match with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and spectators would experience exciting cricket in coming matches.
He said that Sindh missed an opportunity to take a lead following the draw in first match and now they had to play cricket with good run rates as points would now be given on the basis of maximum runs in 110 overs.
Meanwhile, KPK captain Sahibzada Farhan said that they had no pressure especially when senior players joined national camp ahead of Sri Lanka series; adding that bowlers would struggle in early matches as Kookaburra balls for the first time were being used in domestic cricket. He is optimistic to play impressive cricket in this season and take a place in national cricket team.
