Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal on Monday said that amendment in 18th constitutional amendment is imperative to empower the local governments in the country. Speaking at a ceremony to mark the workers of other political parties joining PSP, Kamal said that constitution guarantees the fundamental rights of Pakistanis. However, the issues related to local governments have not been explicitly enshrined in it.
"The problems of people of the country are because of the silence of the constitution on local governments," he noted. He felt that amendment in 18th constitutional amendment is necessary and urged that national legislative assembly should determine the role of local governments in the country.
PSP Chief said that next local government elections are drawing nearer and called upon the people to vote the candidates in these elections on the basis of performance. "People should vote for those who have credibility and integrity rather than believing those, habitual to making lofty claims and fake promises," he asserted. Speaking about the vision of his party, Kamal said that PSP is stressing for concrete steps and offering the solution to resolve the problems of the people.
