Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan has said that DNA tests of under-custody suspects are being carried out to identify the rapist-cum-murder of three minor boys in Chunian. "I am personally reviewing the progress of this case on daily basis. The operation to arrest the murderers has been expedited by utilizing all available resources and the latest technology," said the IGP while responding to the media queries during his visit to Kasur district on Wednesday.
To resolve this case, he added, law enforcers are adopting scientific methods of investigation and DNA tests under-custody suspects are also being carried out. On the occasion, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), probing the case, and personnel of the Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) briefed the IG about their findings.
After the meeting, the IG directed the teams to further speed up the investigation process and ensures punishments to the culprits. He also directed to the complete geo-fencing of the area and a proper coordination with the Special Branch and other intelligence agencies should be ensured. "Progress report of the case should be submitted to the CPO on daily basis," he directed further.
