Solar panels worth Rs 12 million removed from QICT on forged documents

An auction cargo containing 695 pieces of solar panels worth Rs12 million has been removed from Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) on fake documents.
According to details, credible information was received by collector Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Port Qasim Mumtaz Ali Khoso that some unscrupulous elements were involved this organised crime, removing auction cargo illegally from port area on fake and forged documents.
Reacting on this information, the collector has directed to carry out scrutiny of auction documents in order to verify the veracity of the information.
During scrutiny of auction documents, it was revealed that a container of solar panels has illegally been removed from QICT on fake documents.
During initial course of investigation, it was further determined that the accused persons with the active connivance of the management and concerned staff of QICT by presenting fake documents and removing signatures have got removed a container of solar panels (695 pieces).
The value of the illegally removed goods is estimated to Rs12 million, involving duty/taxes to the tune of Rs6 million approximately.
Consequent upon the detection, the Collectorate has lodged an FIR and initiated further scrutiny of records. Investigation in this case is in progress.
