Promising middle-order batsman had fallen sick due to heatwave during the second ODI match between visiting Sri Lanka and Pakistan on Monday at National Stadium. Karachi, a city of teeming millions, welcomed the visiting team with a lot of enthusiasm. The presence of Sri Lankan cricketers will certainly contribute towards efforts aimed at restoring the image of country's financial capital that suffered too much and for too long in the past.
The cricket enthusiasts must be thankful to Sri Lankan cricket board's decision that its team's tour of Pakistan would go ahead as planned. It may be recalled Pakistan cricket suffered a huge setback in March 2009, when the visiting Sri Lankan team came under a terrorist attack on their way to play three of the second Tests at Lahore's Qadhafi Stadium. But today's Pakistan is vastly different from what it was in the past insofar as the situation of law and order is concerned.
