Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and discussed the operational preparedness of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and regional security situation. The foreign minister commended the professional expertise, courage and resolve of Pakistan Air Force (PAF). He said the enemy should not have any illusion as the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan Army.
The Air Chief reiterated the PAF's resolve to deal with any possible attack and defend Pakistan's air space. Meanwhile, a delegation of US Congressmen from Democratic Party Jim Himes and Patrick Maloney called on the foreign minister and discussed the Pak-US relations, situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and matters of mutual interest.
Talking to them, Qureshi said that Pakistan under the collective responsibility has been playing a constructive role in establishment of peace in the region. The foreign minister told the Congressmen that Prime Minister Imran Khan in his recent meeting with President Trump has emphasized on resumption of peace process with Taliban because talks are the only way for sustainable peace. He said the meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Trump in New York proved fruitful. He said that Pakistan gives special importance to its bilateral relations with the United States, adding that both Pakistan and the US have worked together to overcome the regional challenges, including terrorism.
Referring to the situation in Kashmir, Qureshi said the illegal and unilateral steps taken by India on August 5 are threatening the regional peace. He said that curfew has been imposed in occupied Jammu and Kashmir for the last 58 days and Indian security forces are perpetrating grave human rights violations in the occupied valley. He urged the US to play its role in saving the eight million innocent Kashmiri people from the Indian oppression.
