An accountability court on Tuesday extended judicial remand of former railways minister Khwaja Saad Rafiq and his brother Khwaja Salman in Paragon City scam till October 5 as their counsel was not available.
Earlier, SP Headquarters explained to the court as to why the Khwaja brothers were not brought from the jail on previous hearing. He said complete security was provided to the jail officials; however, there was a little delay.
The court observed that the jail officials on last hearing had complained about non provision of security to bring the suspects to the court.
The court asked the officer whether the police will now decide who to be produced before it. "It amounts to interference in the court's affairs," the court held.
The court will take the matter to its logical end and responsible will be taken to task.
The NAB in its reference accused that Khwaja brothers wrongfully gained Rs 18.2 million approximately from Paragon City (pvt) Limited in their bank accounts.
It said the suspects along with other accomplices cheated public at large.
