Abbasi's lawyers allowed to meet him in jail

The Accountability Court hearing liquefied natural gas (LNG) case against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday allowed his legal team to meet him in jail on every Wednesday instead of the day fixed for meetings with relatives and others. While hearing the petition filed by Abbasi's counsel and sister Sadia Abbasi seeking to allow the legal team of the accused to meet with on another day instead of the day fixed for meetings, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir allowed the legal to meet Abbasi on Wednesday inside jail. Assistant jail superintendent appeared before the court.
Sadia Abbasi adopted stance in her application that every Friday has been fixed for meetings with family member due to which Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's meeting with his legal team is difficult; therefore, the court may grant another day for the purpose. She said that meeting with his lawyers is the legal right of the accused. She further said that the court has allowed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to have meetings with his family members on Thursday and meet his legal team on Friday.
