Pakistan cricketing duo of Ahmad Shahzad and Umar Akmal frequent involvement in controversies has lead them to be out of the international squad for quite some time now. The duo will now be seen in action for the Quetta Gladiators in the fourth season of Pakistan Super League (PSL). Revealing the reason behind the selection of the two cricketers Gladiators head coach Moin Khan said that it was their cricketing ability, which lead them to be selected by the franchise. “Simply their ability to play and their game was in itself their support and backing [to be selected into the franchise],” said Quetta Gladiators head coach, while talking to local media. “I firmly believe that if someone is a capable player, no matter what his attitude is [should be given a chance],” he said. “If the authorities are unable to manage to them, then it is their flaw… I think the best way to deal with such players is to guide and motivate them regularly,” added Khan. Talking about the upcoming World Cup, the former captain was of the view that the current Pakistan side is capable of breaking the jinx of beating India in the tournament. "This present team is very capable of recording a first win over India in a World Cup because there is talent, there is depth and variety and Sarfaraz Ahmed has now gelled the squad well," said Moin. "I say this because our boys beat them (India) in the Champions Trophy two years back and I just feel that in English conditions in June we have better bowlers." Despite his words, he also added that India and England are the hot favourites at the showpiece event and will be the team to beat.
