Writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar along with his wife Shabana Azmi was suppose to visit Karachi to attend the literature event, however, the veterans turned down the invitation after an attack on Indian occupied Kashmir.

On Friday, Akhtar wrote on Twitter, “Karachi art council had invited. Shabana and me for a two day lit conference about Kaifi Azmi and his poetry. We have cancelled that”.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed by Indian media that Azmi and Akhtar would visit Karachi to attend a conference on poet Kaifi Azmi. Kaifi Azmi is Shabana Azmi’s father.

Reportedly, many renowned personalities from Pakistan and across the border have been invited to attend the two-day event, scheduled to be held on February 23 and 24.
