India's oil imports fell 10pc in Jan y/y

The share of Middle Eastern oil in India's imports declined in January compared with same month last year, although Iraq continued to be the top oil supplier to India followed by Saudi Arabia. The share of South American and African oil rose marginally in January, the data showed.

India's oil imports from Iran fell by 45 percent in January to 270,500 barrels per day oil (bpd). Iran was the seventh biggest oil supplier to India in January compared with sixth in December and slipped from the third position it held a year ago.

The following table shows India's imports by country. The imports include condensate. Volumes are in '000 bpd.
