While others are planning to set up colonies on other planets, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos thinks otherwise and says it’s better if humanity live in ‘giant space colonies’ in the future.
In a recent interview with Space News, Amazon and Blue Origin CEO Jeff Bezos said he believes that rather than settling on surface of other planets, people will live in ‘giant space colonies’ in future, which is a more convenient way.
Bezos claimed that travelling to other planets requires massive amount of fuel and energy in contrast to settling in space colonies that will also be closer to Earth. “The space colonies we’ll build will have many advantages. The primary one is that they’ll be close to Earth.”

As per Futurism, Bezos said that the heavy industry like mining and resource extraction will move somewhere else in the Solar System. “Ultimately what will happen, is this planet will be zoned residential and light industry. This is the gem of the Solar System. Why would we do heavy industry here? It’s nonsense,” Bezos said.
Moreover, the billionaire also said that around one trillion people can move to live in the space colonies. “The solar system can support a trillion humans, and then we’d have 1,000 Mozarts, and 1,000 Einsteins. Think how incredible and dynamic that civilization will be,” Business Insider quoted Bezos.
Bezos and Blue Origin have ambitious plans to reach the moon and space. He warned that ‘we don’t have forever’, and that Blue Origin is working on building a ‘low-cost, highly operable, reusable launch vehicle’ to help fulfill his space-faring dreams.
