Indian actress Shilpa Shinde has been receiving rape threats for supporting Navjot Singh Sidhu’s statement in support of Pakistan. The actress stated that she absolutely feels that one cannot and should not blame Pakistan entirely because of a few terrorists attack.

After Sidhu’s statement created uproar on social media, former Bigg Boss winner Shilpa stood in support of him and said that no one can blame the entire nation for any cowardly act. She also said that she is against banning Pakistani artistes to work in Bollywood.

“I am totally against the new phenomenon of banning anyone whose views you don’t concur with. Sadly, CINTAA and other industry bodies are equally complicit in this. Everyone has the right to occupation; you can’t deny me the right to earn my livelihood. In the same vein, I also bat for the rights of Pakistani artists to work in Bollywood, purely on the basis of talent. I have been a victim of this ban culture, so know what’s wrong with it,” she said.

The actress has been receiving severe backlash from Indians for her statement. She has also received rape threats from Indian extremists.

While responding to all the criticisms, Shilpa also told Times of India, “Yes, I feel Sidhu ji was right in his thoughts. I don't think one should blame the entire of Pakistan just because of a few coward terrorists. The Pulwama attack was indeed sad and a cowardly act but you can't just blame an entire nation for it”.

Reacting to the news of getting rape threats she said, “I don't care at all. You really think I will be scared and keep myself secured in the four walls of my house, no that's not happening. These people will say anything but I don't care about it. I have been facing such online harassment since ages now for anything that I say or do which is not in their favour, so it doesn't bother me anymore. Let them say whatever they want to. We talk about safety and look where is the safety for women in our own country?!”.
