Global icon Priyanka Chopra, who is also UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, irked fans, especially Pakistanis, for promoting war in her recent tweet.

Social media is abuzz urging everyone to not support war but rather peace. The goodwill ambassador Priyanka was seeing cheering for war through one of her recent tweets after India carried airstrikes in Pakistan and violated Line of Control.

Priyanka came under strong criticism by the public and also by Pakistani actress Armeena Khan, who slammed Bollywood star for promoting war rather than peace. Many pointed out how Priyanka supporting her own nation’s efforts of defense isn’t a diplomatic choice given that she is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Fans were quick to respond to her tweet that such support contradicts from her status as UNICEF ambassador as the goal of UNICEF is to allow celebrities to use their fame to draw attention to important issues.

Pakistanis were pretty outraged at Priyanka for her statement and started tagging the UN and UNICEF, asking them to revoke her status. Now social media has been flooded with appeals to sign a petition for Priyanka’s removal as a goodwill ambassador.

#SayNoToWar hashtag has been doing rounds across social media as tension between Pakistan and India has escalated significantly in past few days. Many Indian celebrities including Priyanka propagated for war praising the Indian forces for stepping into the Pakistani border.
