Where many celebrities from both sides of the border have been rooting for peace amid India-Pakistan tensions, Ranveer Singh seems to continue inciting hatred by telling Indians to rejoice Indian pilot Abhinandan's release but not forget Pulwama attack.
Pakistan freed the captured Indian pilot as a peace gesture, but Ranveer seems to be still cheering for war and inciting hatred among fans against Pakistan. Speaking at an event about Abhinandan's release by Pakistan, he said the entire country is rejoicing, which is good, but one should not forget the recent attack in Pulwama where 40 CRPF soldiers were killed.
“We are rejoicing today. I am elated. Today is a good day but let's not forget what has happened very recently. I don't think we are back to any semblance of normalcy yet," Ranveer said at the India Today Conclave event in New Delhi.
Speaking in favour of the ban on Pakistani artists in Bollywood, Ranveer said he will be following the ban respectfully even if just one mother of any soldier feels that they shouldn’t work with the Pakistani actors. “I am very cognisant that there is this school of thought that one should not mix art and sport with it, they are two different realms. Art and sports are different realms. The boundaries should be different,” he said.
"But at the same time, us as artists and sportsmen, we are not sacrificing the same way that some of our compatriots are. If there's even one mother of a soldier who believes that we shouldn't engage, we should follow that,” he added.
