Marking its 110th anniversary, French automobile manufacturer Bugatti has unveiled its new car, which is the world’s most expensive car ever made, costing a whopping $18.9 million including taxes.
Bugatti revealed its all new La Voiture Noire car at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Apart from being the most expensive new car ever built and sold, only one of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire will ever be made.
Translated as ‘The Black Car’ in French, the all-black six-tailpipe ‘hypercar’ has almost 1,500 brake horsepower, 8-liter engine with 16 cylinders. The car has marked itself to be an ‘absolute monster’ with four turbochargers and 1,180lb-ft of torque, reported Unilad.
“Every single component has been handcrafted and the carbon fiber body has a deep black gloss only interrupted by the ultrafine fiber structure. This is a material that has been handled perfectly,” said Bugatti designer Etienne Salomé. “We worked long and hard on this design until was nothing that we could improve. For us, the coupé represents the perfect form with a perfect finish.”
As per The Verge, the La Voiture Noire is designed to pay homage to one of the most valuable cars in the world, Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic of the 1930s which was designed by Jean Bugatti. Only four of those cars were made with only three of them survived. The fourth one was lost and still remains unknown, which is what this new La Voiture Noire commemorates.
“Our history is both a privilege and a responsibility – the responsibility for continuing the Bugatti heritage into the future. With La Voiture Noire, we are paying homage to our heritage and bringing speed, technology, luxury and aesthetics forward to a new era,” said Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann. “La Voiture Noire is a far more than a modern interpretation of Jean Bugatti’s Type 57 SC Atlantic. It is a feast of aesthetics.”
