ISLAMABAD: The imports of agriculture machinery into the country during first seven months of current financial year increased by 6.72 percent as compared the imports of the corresponding period of last year.
During the period from July-January, 2018-19, agriculture machinery worth US$ 78.510 million imported as compared the imports of US$ 73.850 million of same period last year, according the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
However, imports of other machinery relating to agriculture witnessed about 7.74 percent reduction during the period under review as it came down from US$ 2.022 billion of first seven months of last fiscal year to US$ 1.865 billion of same period of current financial year.
Meanwhile, imports of agriculture chemicals grew by 5.14 percent, fertilizers 18.61 percent insecticides 4.86 percent and medical products by 9.74 percent, it added.
During last seven months of current financial year, agricultural and other chemicals worth US$5.249 billion imported as compared US$ 4.992 billion of same period last year.
About 1, 559,533 metric tons of fertilizers manufactured worth US$ 656.475 million imported as compered the imports of 1,476,886 metric tons valuing US$ 553.455 million of same period of last year.
Country imported 16,957 metric tons of insecticides valuing US$ 103.678 million as compared the imports of 15,981 metric tons of US$ 98.870 million of same period of last year.
