The never ending controversy of Ali Zafar-Meesha Shafi has taken a new turn with Ali filing criminal proceedings against Meesha for forging documents and misstatement.
According to the petition filed by Ali, there is a contradiction in the date mentioned on the affidavit and the account of the events shared in it. “The events that Meesha promised and claimed took place afterwards,” the petition further reads.
Ali’s lawyer Ambreen Qureshi said, “While the defamation case filed against Shafi by our client is under trial, we have initiated criminal proceedings under section 476 against forged documents, misrepresentation, misstatement and fraud with the honourable court in the reply filed by Shafi. As lawyers as well as citizens of this country, we all have a duty to identify and expose those who exploit movements for their own personal and professional gain,” local media reported.
In April 2018, Meesha had taken to Twitter to publicly accuse Ali of sexually harassing her on more than one occasion. Ali, on the other hand, categorically denied the allegations and took legal action against the songtress.
