At a time when all the celebrities are congratulating Mehwish Hayat for being chosen for Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, host-turned-politician Aamir Liaquat has brought up a whole another issue with the actress and ranted about it on Twitter.
Fellow actors of Mehwish are celebrating her for the big achievement. However, social media has been abuzz over Mehwish being chosen for the country's highest honour. Soon after she was chosen for the prestigious award, keyboard warriors on social media came out with their uncalled daggers and a war of words criticizing Mehwish began online. Some questioned as to what the actress has really done to deserve this award.
Even an online publication took a sharp dig at the actress, questioning Mehwish's 'character'. Mehwish, who had kept her silence over the online criticism, lashed out at the publication on Twitter and threatened them with legal action if they do not withdraw the article and give her a written apology.
This is shameful https://t.co/7chd70ABKZ this is how you celebrate your artist’s success by vilifying their character?! This is libellous and defamation. Withdraw this article and post a written apology else legal action will be taken against this! https://t.co/sv1WzPdaCM

Pakistani celebrities stood in support of her in the whole scenario, but Aamir took to his Twitter to accuse Mehwish of supporting and defaming him in her last film ‘Load Wedding’, and questioned whether he should sue her for it if she is planning to take legal action against the publication for defamation.
And should I not sue your movie load wedding where your entire movie revolves around me, defaming and wrongly portraying my character WITHOUT my consent? As an artist you did not only work in such a movie but you failed to stop the nonsense in it. Shameful! https://t.co/lg7EqZ3W7v

Pakistani celebs including Mahira Khan, Osman Khalid Butt, Shehzad Roy, Armeena Khan, Ushna Shah, Shaan Shahid, Fahad Mustafa and many more gave Mehwish a shout out for her achievement in Pakistan entertainment industry. They also congratulated her for achieving such a huge honour.
Congratulations, Mehwish - your work speaks for itself. That someone would defame your character for the sake of retweets and gossip is absolutely disgusting. https://t.co/lst5X2gsGm

So basically being the lead heroine of half a dozen highest grossing movies isnt good enough? A woman has to keep on justifying her accomplishments/rewards. Shameless character assassination! https://t.co/v834E6QZLF

Mehwish has not yet replied to Aamir's accusations regarding the movie. We will have to wait and see whether the actress says anything to the controversial host-turned-politician.
