Amidst many other languages that India knows, Urdu is one of the most prominent ones. Considering the language’s importance, Indian government plans to rope in superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and actress Katrina Kaif to promote it.

According to Indian media reports, The National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) in India, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, now wants to take a more proactive role in what it’s meant to do — promote the Urdu language.

Aquil Ahmed, director of NCPUL spoke to The Print and said, “We are going to approach Bollywood actors, prominent names and make them say a few lines in Urdu, we will then use these videos in our events.”

These reports also stated that the Modi's government has given financial aid to the NCPUL to help them in their endeavour.

Twitteratis are really having a field day with the idea of Salman and Katrina promoting the language. One of the Twitter users wrote, “Before asking Katrina to promote Urdu please make sure she can speak Hindi properly”.
