Marvel has reportedly roped in Hollywood’s big fish Angelina Jolie to star in Disney/Marvel’s movie adaptation of Jack Kirby’s comic book ‘The Eternals’. Director Chloe Zhao wants the star to lead the cast of her movie as a near-immortal being.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning star is close to signing up for The Eternals. Based on a comic created by the late Jack Kirby, The Eternals will follow a long-running conflict between two at-odds super-powered groups. It’s unclear who Jolie will play in the film.

The Eternals are reportedly god-like creatures. The Wrap suggested the central character of the film whom Jolie is presumably playing is called Sersi, one of a group of near-immortal humans given superpowers by aliens.

After ‘Avengers: End Game’, Marvel is all set to lose some of its iconic characters like Iron Man and Captain America. They are now planning to get another series of superheroes that will keep the fans intact with Marvel Universe.

Meanwhile, Jolie will next be seen in Disney’s Maleficent sequel, ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’.
