One of Pakistan’s most prestigious awards, Lux Style Awards (LSA), has announced its nominations for its 18th edition. The nominations encompass awards in fashion, film, music and television. However, people aren’t too happy with the chosen nominations which have ignored some deserving candidates of Pakistani entertainment industry.
Soon after announcing the list of nominees, the LSA jury received backlash for snubbing some of the most prominent projects of 2018. Some of the artists also strongly reacted to the ‘biased’ nominations.
Mohsin Abbas Haider gave an amazing performance as a child predator in ‘Meri Guriya’, but the drama has not been nominated in any category, although he is nominated as the ‘Singer of the Year’ for ‘Na Ja’. He called the lack of a nomination very disrespectful for the whole team. “Thanks for making my belief more strong that let’s just make money and run our kitchens,” he wrote.
Nominated under the ‘Best Emerging Talent’ in Fashion category, budding model Eman Suleman has boycotted the awards saying she doesn’t want to share an LSA nomination with someone who has been accused of sexual harassment. She didn’t mention any name though but seems like she was referring to actor/singer Ali Zafar, who has been nominated in 'Best Actor' category for 'Teefa in Trouble'. He has been accused of sexual misconduct by singer Meesha Shafi last year.
One of the most successful film of 2018 ‘Teefe in Trouble’ has been nominated in many categories but director Ahsan Rahim expressed his disappointment after seeing that his film’s music did not get the recognition it deserved.
Many deserving candidates like Faisal Qureshi (Haiwan), Farhan Saeed (Suno Chanda) and Ayeza Khan (Koi Chand Rakh) didn’t get nominated for their incredible work.
