A Chinese automobile manufacturer has launched what it calls the world’s longest electric bus, measuring around 88ft long.

The Chinese automaker BYD has launched the 88ft long red bi-articulate bus, which is being called the world’s longest pure-electric bus and named the K12A.

The electric bus has the ability to carry up to 250 people, reaching a maximum speed of about 40mph and travelling 186 miles on a single charge only, reported Engadget. Since the bus has a bi-articulate design, it isn’t built in one long section and that makes it easier to get around corners.

As per Electrek, BYD claims that the K12A is also the world’s first electric bus with a 4WD (four-wheel drive) system that has the ability to ‘switch between 2WD and 4WD smoothly to meet the demands of different terrains, while also lowering the vehicle’s overall energy consumption’.

The K12A will be deployed in the Columbian capital, Bogotá, where it will be a part of the city’s TransMilenio bus rapid transit system, according to Digital Trends.
