In the light of #MeToo movement, singer Meesha Shafi accused noted singer/actor Ali Zafar for sexually harassing her. The case is still in court since last June 2018, however on Monday Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered session court to wrap up the case within 90 days.
Earlier, a district session judge issued orders to wrap up Ali’s defamation suit against Meesha by April 15.
According to local media report, LHC Justice Masood Jahangir, taking up a petition by Meesha on Monday, set aside the lower court's earlier order to decide the case by April 15. Shafi in her petition argued that the session’s court order to decide the case in coming two weeks was in contradiction with ground realities and sought more time to produce witnesses in her favour.
The court has now ordered to wrap up the case in next 90 days.
The suit, claiming damages of Rs1 billion, was filed by Ali under the Defamation Ordinance 2002. In the notice, the singer claimed Meesha damaged his reputation through false allegations of sexual harassment.
