Addressing a news conference along with Minister for National Health Aamir Mehmood Kiani and Parliamentary Secretary Planning Kanwal Shauzab here on Friday, he said the government is correcting the course of economy that was destroyed in the previous government.
Rejecting the statistics given by former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar the other day, the Minister of State for Revenue said the external debt is increasing at half a rate compared with PML-N government's first eight months.
He said the foreign exchange reserves are increasing at a better pace than previously. Admitting the increase in inflation, the minister said it was due to devaluation of currency. However, government is determined to bring it down for the benefit of common man.
Responding to a question regarding the claim of Minister of Water Resources Faisal Vawda on massive number of jobs coming soon, Hammad Azhar said his statement was in the context of possible discovery of offshore oil and gas reserves.
Ton another question, he said the modalities will be settled when IMF staff will visit Pakistan to finalize the program.
