Four killed, 85 injured in wall, roof, trees collapse incidents

Rescue sources confirmed that four bodies and 47 injured were shifted Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center while 39 injured were moved to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

According to details, a seven-year-old girl, Mehak, daughter of Faisal was killed when the wall of a house collapsed in Korangi’s Gulzar Colony.

The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for an autopsy.

Separately, a teen age boy, Kashif, son of Ghulam Hussain, died when a wall of his house fell on him in Bhains Colony.

The body was brought to JPMC for a postmortem examination.

A man was reportedly killed as a tree fell on him near Peoples Chowrangi.

A 56-year-old man died when a part of his house roof fell on him in Mehmooodabad.

Meanwhile, five students were injured when the roof of their school collapsed on Tipu Sultan Road, area people told PPI. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Five members of a family were injured when a part of their house wall collapsed in Manzoor Colony. They were shifted to JPMC for treatment. The imam of a mosque at fish harbour was injured as the mosque's roof collapsed.

In Sarjani Town No-7, two people were injured as the roof of their house collapsed, rescue sources said.

Incidents of wall, roof and trees collapses were also reported in Korangi, Landhi, Malir, Lyari, PECHS, Peoples Chowrangi and Surjani Town.

The sudden dust storm came with howling gales and hampered visibility on several major roads.

The wind was so strong that it ripped off tin walls and knocked out power cables including, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Hassan Square, SITE Area, Gulistan-e-Johar, Malir, Landhi, Airport, Shahrae Faisal, Abul Hassan Isphani Road, NIPA and Liaquatabad.

Sindh Minister for Local Bodies Saeed Ghani and Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar on Monday directed all the local bodies’ officials to stay alert in view of the weather forecasts of thunderstorm and heavy rains.
