A total of 15 matches will be played during the tournament while event’s final to be held on May 1. The Chief Patron of the tournament Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Syed Abdul Rasheed believes sports events like this tournament has largely helped the youth of the area to leave unsocial activities and choose healthy activities instead. Lyari is unpopular for drugs and gang fight but Rasheed said tournaments like this would help Lyari improve its image and show its beautiful side to the world. “Cricket has a beauty to foster unity,” said Rasheed. “The tournament would attract youth’s interest in the game of cricket and would bring forth talent from Lyari as well.” Sports Promotion Company (SPC), which believes in promoting sports in underprivileged areas like Lyari as well as neglected sports and segments, is also supporting the initiative.
