ISLAMABAD: The counsel for former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday filed an application before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for seeking exemption from personal appearance during Tuesday's hearing on behalf of his client in Al-Azizia reference case.

The hearing is set for Tuesday (April 23) before a divisional bench where Nawaz had already filed an appeal against his conviction in the Al-Azizia reference.

A medical report with the complete health status of Nawaz Sharif has been attached with the application.

The counsel for Nawaz Sharif contended that his client was unable to appear before the court on the day due to his current health status.

A two-member bench of the IHC will conduct hearing of the appeal on Tuesday.

The medical report mentioned that Nawaz Sharif has been suffering from cardiac issues, irregularity in blood sugar levels, and a third-grade kidney disease.
